Will Arnett files for divorce
Ohio fans of “The Lego Movie” and “Despicable Me” may be surprised that the funny man involved in the flicks is going through the serious ordeal of divorce. The star and his comedian wife, Amy Poehler, have announced their intention to divorce.
The couple was married in 2003. They both have successful careers on comedy television, including Arnett’s role in the series “The Millers” and Poehler’s role in “Parks and Recreation.” The couple announced that they were separating in September 2012 after they had been married for nine years. Now, according to court documents, Will Arnett filed for divorce on from his wife on April 8, 18 months after their original separation. He cites irreconcilable differences as the grounds for divorce in the court documents that he filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. In the filing, Arnett asks for joint custody of the couple’s 5-year-old and 3-year-old sons.
Individuals who pursue a high asset divorce may face several legal issues. In divorces that have assets of significant value, the couple may not agree on which property is marital property and which is separate property. Additionally, they may have more complex assets involved in the case, such as investments in hedge funds, businesses or residuals from television roles. Additionally, other issues may be contested, such as whether a prenuptial agreement is valid, child custody, parenting time or spousal support matters.
In divorce proceedings, child custody is often a point of contention. Individuals who are in the middle of this major transition in their life often choose to seek counsel from a divorce attorney. He or she could present a well-reasoned argument to the family court regarding why the client would be the best choice to care for the children.
